Manager
The Manager tab in the Command Centre contains some very important functions.
The About panel to the right shows you the edition and version number of the software. Useful for checking if a newer update is available, or if the update installation you have carried out was concluded successfully.
The directions for installing program updates will be found on the Program Updates page of our website at www.merlinsys.co.uk/mrp2000.
Sales Orders & Jobs is the place where you enter Sales Orders, and Authorise them to create active jobs for production. Sales Orders which have not been Authorsed here will not be visible nor taken account of elsewhere in Merlin MRP 2000, and are therefore not active jobs.
Set Parameters in also an important area, especially when you first use
Merlin MRP 2000. Here you set your Company Details, the Currency Symbol and Date Format for your country, the Import Path for your data from Merlin MRP Pro if you previously used the DOS software, the path to the server if you are installing MRP 2000 WorkStation, and the cut-off date which defines the term "Old" when using the 4 command buttons in the Maintenance panel to delete old records.Here also is the Import Merlin DOS command button, to import and convert your MRP Pro data.
The Data Update button should not be used unless you are directed to do so when applying a program update, in which case you must have followed all of the directions carefully, including backing up your data. Do not use this button without understanding that it will overwrite all your data with the archive created the last time you said Yes to Data Validation when closing the Merlin program.
This archive should not be used as a data backup for day to day purposes. If a file becomes corrupted, the Data Update will not work. Data Update replaces the data in the current set of tables with that from the archive. It does not replace the tables themselves.
MERLIN UPDATE. The Merlin Update button enables you to check for program updates for the Merlin software, and download them to your computer. Clicking the button will bring up the
Merlin Program Update screen. Clicking the Check for Updates button on this screen will take you to our website, and you will be advised if a newer version of the program is available, which you will be able do download immediately.Save the setup file to a known location on your computer (such as you desktop) that is not within the Merlin directory setup. You must quit the Merlin program before you run the setup program to install your Program Update.
Please note, the operation of this feature may depend upon the necessary permissions and user rights being set up on your system. You may need to establish your Internet connection prior to running this function.
The Delete Old Records buttons in the Maintenance panel enable you to remove records which have times out according to the date you have entered in Set Parameters (above) to define "old" records.
